Your Trimester Project

Essential Questions

1. How do the five themes of geography affect your chosen nation?

2. What recent historical events have had a big impact on your chosen nation?

3. What challenges are facing the people in your chosen nation, and how are they responding to those challenges?

Description 

For your trimester project, you are going to become our class expert about your chosen nation.

You are going to share what you learned about your chosen nation with the class in a simple lesson of about ten minutes or so with the class during the last week of the trimester.

You are also going to write an informative essay that deals with the three essential questions.

Objectives

Students will identify and explain answers to the three essential question for this assignment in a student-presented lesson and an informative essay.

Instructions

1. Select your nation. You may choose any European nation, Australia, New Zealand, a nation located in Melanesia, Micronesia, or Polynesia. The same nation may only be used once in any class.

2. You may have one partner, and that partner may be from another class, if you choose.

3. Your lesson outline is in the essential questions.

4. Your informative essay will be all original content. You may include about 25% as quoted, and cited sources, but no more. Plagiarism rules will be strictly enforced. Do not cheat!

5. Your lesson may take any form you choose. I realize many of you will do a presentation, and that's fine. However, you could consider some other ideas too.
